KAY-LEAD
Kaypro Corporation announced today the implementation of a unique system for providing dealers with sales leads. Known as "Kay-Lead." The system is designed to create an immediate response to end-user inquires while the potential buyer is still ready to purchase the product. According to Winn Schwartau, Director of Corporate Communications at Kaypro, there are inherent problems with conventional telephone inquiry response systems. "First of all, the average telephone operator doesn't know the product of the company," he states. An interested consumer typically responds to an ad providing a toll-free 800 number for further information. The telephone operator has little of no knowledge of the company of the product because he or she may be answering the phone for 50 of more companies. "That's not the kind of personal attention our clients deserve," Schwartau added. "A telephone operator like that cannot possibly have all of the answers to the multitude of questions a phone-in caller might have: 'What's the warranty?' 'Can I travel with it?' 'How heavy is it?' A lot of the information that's not in the ad can be simply answered by having our own staff of operators who are properly trained." The problems don't end there. It may take up to two weeks for the manufacturer to receive a set of inquires from a response service, and then the dissemination of those leads to the appropriate dealerships or retail outlets nationwide can take up to the appropriate dealership or retail outlets nationwide can take up to another week. "This means," Schwartau said, "that a user might get some information 3-4 weeks after he calls in for it. By then we've lost the sale, and so has the dealer. In our opinion, that is unacceptable response time. If car dealerships worked that way, the highways would be empty."
